Salutations from Arizona! I'm now about three weeks into the 10.5 week long show known as the Arizona Fine Art Expo. I'm just now starting to feel caught up...
I've got lots of new work to post, and there's a number of new pieces in the works. For tonight, I will list the postings to these: http://worksofman.com/works/sculpture/riddy-3 (number 4 is done, he's coming soon) and a new group of denticles is up at http://www.worksofman.com/works/jewelry/collection/automaton-denticle
Something here pushes me. My urge to make the sculptural work grows immensely, as does my questions about it. I have more ideas than time, it seems. The show runs 10am to 6pm every day. We have a small camper on the property, so I tend to get up at the latest possible moment to get ready and be in the show by 10. I work while the show is going on, and then stay after at the show, so I can continue to work. I take breaks to eat and such, but usually leave the tent between midnight and 2am. (and it may be Arizona, but it's bloody cold in a tent (the show) in the desert at 2am, I don't care what the temperature gauge says...) So I'm not sure how to eek out more time in the day. Somehow, I must get more efficient. Oddly enough, that's happening, and it has something to do with slowing down.
I'm working to take the time to really prioritize my projects, and just plan on doing them to their full extent, damn the time it takes. And things get done, instead of worrying about them getting done.
Artists here have often been beneficial in my creative processes. Of particular note is Dave Venell . At some point we'll be collaborating on some works - our brains simply move along paths that further each of us along, it seems. He always makes me want to be about 14 steps further along than I am; he also helps me see how to get there.
Thanks to all for watching Works of Man. If you're riding along, prepare for the second stage engines to start in shortly...
