if you're interested in rings...
A business note:
Sometime in the next week or so, the ring prices of my titanium rings on www.worksofman.com are going to go up - somewhere around ten to twenty percent, depending on the ring. There's a myriad of reasons, but the simplest one is that metal costs have spiraled up for years, my rings prices haven't changed in about three years. If you're about to order - until June 15th mention the word "rutabaga" and I'll honor the old price.
In fact having a secret word is so much fun, I plan on doing it monthly with something new. Let's try for around the 16th of each month, shall we?
Ok enough business for now.
If the ridiculous vessel series of my sculptures are my children, i think the current one is coming breech. I feel like I've spent the last two days largely cutting big pieces of metal into smaller ones, with uncertain results. This can happen in my process; a piece can get away from me because of too many possibilites. There are just so many things that can be done, parts that should move, creatures that would live in them... perhaps it's like the of the theories of branching planes of reality. Oh, if I could see each idea carried out to its completion, if I could create each variation... It's my current perception within my present reality that there is only so much time; and I expect people would rather I show up with finished work to my shows, versus a pile of carefully crafted parts.
So - I'm learning to let go. Because there's always the next piece, and perhaps the next place...
g'nite. I've got some solutions to dream.
