Nomenclature non-withstanding, Signalman #1 is part of the riddy family. It seems there will be a branch of the family tree known as the Signalmen. They're the brave souls left on god-forsaken frontiers, without movement of their own. They're there to let those in the rear now what's happening, or, perhaps, to send the message outwards. Signalmen may not have much to say of their own, but they'll relay what is necessary.

Signalman #1 vanes spin about, so he's fairly effective.
